What’s next at the Mueller Airport Redevelopment? The first of this three part series discussed the tweener lots, and here I’ll describe the update we got from the developer Catellus about the Mueller Houses.
What is a Mueller House? It’s a large building designed to look like an estate (large!) home with a single principal entrance. Other entrances lead to a total of between four and six separate homes within each building. The homes are owned as condos.
Where will the Mueller Houses be built? The plan is to build them along Simond Avenue on the 12-14 lots that have already been prepared and cleared. This puts them close to Lake Park, and right next to the planned Town Center.
When are they being sold? The plan is to build them for the end of 2010 or start of 2011. The builder has not completed negotiations for the contract yet, and has to get plans approved by the New Construction Council.
Will any of the homes be affordable? Around half of the 40-60 units will be in the Mueller Affordable Program, which allows income qualified buyers to purchase a home for around 75% of the purchase price.
These have the potential to add a new architectural style to the neighborhood, and it will be interesting to see the plans as they emerge.
