Keeping Cool in Mueller

the word is cool and here in mueller austin we will keep it on.

Keeping Cool in Mueller

It’s July… yay! July in Austin, Texas… ugggh. We all love Austin, but the summers here are no joke. But that doesn’t mean you have to hole up in your house with the shades drawn and the AC set to “Igloo.” In fact, DON’T do that. Power grids have trouble in harsh conditions too, you understand. And because spending 24 hours a day submerged in the frigid waters of Barton Springs is untenable for most of us, I recommend putting on your lightest, flowiest clothing and checking out our favorite ways for Staying Cool in Mueller…

The Alamo Drafthouse

Summer heat and artificially cooled movie theaters have gone hand in hand for decades now. Seriously, what better way to hide from the vicious Texas sun than a dark, air conditioned dark room that also has a full staff of people whose literal job it is to bring you cold drinks.

We’ll also throw out a recommendation for the Season Pass. It allows you to watch as many movies as you want, up to one per day, to reserve your seat the minute it goes on sale, and you can also purchase companion tickets. Let me tell you, it feels great when everyone in your group thanks you for buying the tickets and it only ended up costing you a couple bucks.

Lick Honest Ice Cream

Artisanal. Ice. Cream. Do I need to say more? I mean, I can rattle on about how they only use the purest ingredients, how they only use milk from family-owned farms where the welfare of their grass-fed cows is the highest priority, their dedication to environmental sustainability, or their ardent support for their community, but honestly all you really need to know is that it’s darn good ice cream!

Thinkery

For as much as we here at Kathy Sokolic Realty support the idea of kids going outside to play, sometimes that’s just not safe! So if you’re looking for a way to entertain your summer vacationing kiddos, look no further than the Thinkery Children’s Museum. They offer over 40,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor interactive STEAM (that’s science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) exhibits and programs for our entire community, though we recommend holding off on the outdoor stuff until Fall. They also offer all sorts of wonderful programs and activities. Visit the Thinkery’s website for admission and membership prices.
