David Weekley Homes

David Weekley started building homes in Houston, TX in 1976 and as a production builder has sold over $1.3B of homes in 15 cities across the US. They have been building in Mueller since the start of the development and have products in a variety of price points.

Their first homes were a mix of affordable yard homes and market rate yard homes on the smaller lots. There have been various additions and updates to the market rate floorplans, with their most popular and numerous being:

  • The Willie – two story 3/2 with optional gameroom upstairs
  • The Soco – single story 3/2
  • The Antone – two story 3-4/2.5. One of the elevations has an upper balcony which allows you to catch the breeze
  • The Mansfield – two story 3/2.5 which comes in versions 1,2 and 3

As of 2011, resale prices for these homes were in the $300,000 – $450,000 range.

Then they started on the row homes – the two story attached housing which provided denser housing with less maintenance. The floorplans included

  • The Balcones
  • The Bonnel
  • The Waterloo

These homes are reselling in the $300,000 – $375,000 range

Following on from these home styles, they moved to the Garden Homes which are the zero lot line two and three story homes on narrower lots, which included:

  • The Standfield
  • The Kerby
  • The Bergstrom
  • The Waller

These were selling new for prices between $250,000 and $400,000.

Outside of the old airport development, they also offer a build on your lot program, and have been building 5 star green homes in Central Austin for some time. They brought this knowledge to Mueller Austin, TX and bought 4 lots from Catellus which had originally been planned as Mueller House Condominium buildings. These lots on Mattie Street face the Lake Park and are the deepest in the neighborhood, and upon these, David Weekley is building Estate Homes, which are in the upper $700,000 price range. They are somewhat customizable within the architectural constraints of the neighborhood.

David Weekley Homes owns Priority Home Mortgage – their preferred lender, and typically gives incentives to use both Prosperity Title (a Stewart Title Company) and Priority Home Mortgage.

I live in one of their homes and have been very satisfied with their warranty service. They are still actively building in the neighborhood and maintain a project office in their last remaining model home. This means that they are never far away if anything happens. Some of the sales people bought homes in the neighborhood which says something about their confidence in the builder.
